Athletic Spotlight - Markell Simmons

Meet Markell Simmons, a pitcher for the team, from Hallsboro, N.C. Markell enjoys eating chicken alfredo, scrolling through Instragram and listening to music by Khalid. If he could have any superpower, he would have super intelligence "so I could solve the world's problems." Markell's favorite school subject is psychology, and he loves reading "Legend" by Marie Lu and "Divergent" by Veronica Roth. His mom inspires him most because she "is the hardest working and most humble human being I know. Her work ethic alone inspires me to push myself past my limits and become the best person I can be." Markell's favorite aspect of SCC is the "community based environment. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. It makes going to school much more tolerable." He loves to sing, play video games, play the piano and work out while not in class. His favorite movie is "Divergent," and his favorite TV or streaming show is an anime called "Solo Leveling."
