Rams showcase energy and determination vs Bryant and Stratton CC
The Rams put together a gritty weekend at home against Bryant & Stratton CC, combining timely hitting, resilient pitching, and late-game heroics to stay competitive across all three games.
The Rams hosted Bryant and Stratton CC this weekend with some clutch hitting and high-energy moments. The Rams showed determination on both offense and defense all weekend long.
In game 1, the Rams got behind early but slowly crawled their way back into the game. Steed opened the scoring for the Rams with an RBI sacrifice fly in the second inning. Pridgen added on to that with his 10th homer of the year in the 3rd inning. The game was quiet again until the 6th inning when Ruppert got the Rams back on the board with a homer of his own. Guerrero came out of the pen and was able to extend his outing to 5 innings, only allowing 2 hits. Then, the Rams got 2 more runs back in the 8th inning when Cassell hit a solo shot, and Steed hit his second sacrifice fly of the game. The Rams were down to their last out in the bottom of the 9th when Gerard came up big and hit a 2-run homer to tie the game and send it to extras.
The Rams got off to a slow start in game 2 of the series, but Gerard hit his second home run of the day in the 4th inning to put 3 runs on the board for the Rams. The scoring continued in the 5th innings when Pridgen hit a double to drive in Cassell, and Allen scored on a passed ball. Later in the inning, Gerard drove in another run via groundout. Tilson had a great outing for the Rams on the mound. He came out of the bullpen in the 4th inning and threw 4 hitless, scoreless innings.
The Rams looked to bounce back in game 3 of the series on Sunday morning. Cassell led the way for the Rams, hitting leadoff and collecting 2 hits. Allen also added 2 RBIs for himself. The bullpen for the Rams put up a decent outing. McBride, Horning, Doty, and McGee combined for 6 innings and only 3 earned runs.
