The Rams blended offense and great bullpen performances to put together a competitive series versus Robeson Community College this weekend.
The Rams didn’t just weather the storm this weekend, they turned it into momentum. Facing tough conditions and early deficits, SCC battled back with timely hitting, disciplined at bats, and clutch performances across all three games. What started as a rain-soaked challenge quickly became a statement series, as the Rams found their rhythm and powered their way to a strong conference finish.
The Rams got down early in a rainy, windy game 1 of the series. But, in the second inning they managed to string together some quality at bats and load the bases up. Sutherland hit an RBI infield single to bring in the first run of the game for the Rams. Hughes and Pridgen both followed up with RBIs of their own before the game got halted due to a rain delay. When the game resumed, Sutherland was able to complete his trip around the bases by scoring on a wild pitch. Thompson led the way for the Rams offense, collecting 2 hits.
The Rams got to work early in Game 2, Pridgen led off for the Rams and singled. He eventually managed to score on a wild pitch later in the first inning. Edwards kept the scoring going by mashing an RBI single in the second inning, which Pridgen followed up by hitting a sacrifice fly. In the third, Allen connected with one and sent it into the stands to keep the Rams in the game. The Rams offense stayed hot in the fourth inning, when Reyes hit an RBI single and managed to come around and score himself later in the inning. In the fifth inning, Steed hit an opposite field single that plated 2 more runs for the Rams. Steed led the Rams offense with 2 RBIs and Reyes, Pridgen, and Edwards all collected 2 hits.
The Rams carried that momentum into Game 3 on Saturday, where they closed out the weekend with a conference win over Robeson. SCC combined disciplined at bats, strong pitching performances from the bullpen, and solid defensive play to secure the victory and finish the series on a high note.
